I love discovering new books that help me understand my childs’ brain and how I, as a parent, can facilitate development, learning and most importantly convey the importance of our families’ values into their lives. I enjoy reading practical and educational material, especially books that are easy to read and don’t have complicated terminology.
Raising and disciplining children can be a difficult job to do the “right” way. As moms and dads, we want to raise well mannered, disciplined children, who will have the right priorities, values and lookout on life. Being Christian, in our family we focus on showing the importance of following Christ, knowing Him personally and making him the priority from a very young age.
I’ve found 3 great books, concerning raising disciplined, Godly children that I’ve found super interesting, realistic and enlightening. I gave one of the books to my friend because it’s such a good read!
Raising Grateful Kids in an Entitled World by Kristen Welch
The author is a mother like us and she knows what the world has to offer our kids these days. Many times, it’s not what we’d prefer and in fact, the world offers too much for our kid’s to take value in. This book is by far my favorite book of all the books I’ve read concerning children. I found a lot of practical information and advice that I could apply now and in the future.
Shepherding a Child’s Heart by Tedd Tripp
This book is full of valuable information. It teaches parents how to address your childs’ heart and how to relate, as well as, discipline according to your child’s age. He goes in depth about different age groups and what to focus on in that stage of their development.
Dare to Discipline by James Dobson
Best-selling classic for over 30 years! James Dobson is a psychologist and knows some great approaches towards children. In this book you’ll learn how to gain your child’s respect and direct them towards Scriptures’ principles. Great book from a great author!
Podcasts are also great options!
If you don’t have much time to read and would still like to receive some practical information regarding raising Godly children, check out two of my favorite podcast.
